2020 ISANG YUN PRIZE
With financial support from Arts Council Korea and cooperation with Tongyeong designated as UNESCO Music City and Tongyeong International Music Foundation, Isang Yun Peace Foundation grants 2020 ISANG YUN PRIZE.
The candidates are musicians of all nationality, race, gender, and thought who contributed on the peace and reconciliation between different cultures or individuals and organizations that contributed on realizing the democratic values such as peace and equality.
The recommendations for candidates in Korea are taken by face-to-face interview or telephone interview with professional musicians such as composers. The recommendations for candidates in overseas countries are taken by recommendation from UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Anyone who wish to recommend a candidate may apply via Isang Yun Peace Foundation Office (Phone Number : 02-943-2334,5, E-Mail : isangyun@naver.com) with reasons for recommendation until the end of August.
There are total of 7 panel members including panel head, Florian Riem (Head of Tongyeong International Music Foundation), Douglas Gautier (Australia, Head of Association of Asia Pacific Performing Arts Centres), Jeong Yun (Daughter of Isang Yun, Representative of Yun’s Family), Toshio Hosokawa (Japan, Composer), Tisha Ho (Hong Kong, General Manager of Hong Kong Arts Festival), Marla Stukenberg (Head of Gothe Institut), and Edicson Ruiz (Venezuela, Berlin Philharmonic Double Bassist).
The awards include Grand Prize (prize money : 30,000 dollars) and Innovation Award granted to people who suggested creative ideas and led in realizing the universal value in overcoming the hardship.
