Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra

Believing that music has the power to motivate and inspire during the fight against COVID-19, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra organised the HKCO Net Festival to connect the community in the Cloud. Hong Kong composers, conductors, music instructors, drum teams, Chinese music groups and individual musicians were invited to participate in the online platform under three main areas: “With New Tunes, We Connect” brought together new compositions from local composers; “With Drums, We Hearten” showcased drum performances to invigorate listeners and boost morale; and “Through Musicking, We are One” featured members of the community performing tuneful Chinese music to soothe and to heal.
Music has the power to motivate us in difficult times. Although the pandemic has forced social distancing, it also opened an opportunity for composers and artists to express their emotions and tell their stories, contributing to society by stirring up positive energy.
